A survey conducted by the institute AtlasIntel revealed a scenario of divided opinions among Brazilian football fans about the transformation of clubs into Football Stock Companies (SAF).

According to the survey, 45% of those interviewed approve of their teams adopting—or having adopted—the business model, while 33% are against the idea and 22% are unsure how to opine. .

The collection was made with 2,069 people, from 619 municipalities, between June 20 and 25. The margin of error is 2%. For Marcelo Rotemberg, public policy director, AtlasIntel , part of the support for the model comes from what the fans see as recent positive results.

If we disregard those who said 'I don't know,' we have more than 50% in favor of SAFs. The research reflects this desire due to this successful performance on the field by Botafogo, because it's the first thing that appears to the fan. , he explained.

Corinthians has a divided fan base regarding SAF

Among the revealed data, the highlight goes to the Corinthians fans. The club is going through a period of political and financial instability, which makes the topic especially sensitive at the Parque São Jorge. According to the survey, 41% of Corinthians fans are in favor of the SAF, while 33% are against it and 26% are still unsure about the matter. .

The division indicates that, while part of the fans see the model as a possible solution to the club's problems, there is a significant number of Corinthians supporters who still resist the change or do not feel informed enough to take a position.

In comparison with other clubs, Timão appears among those with the highest rate of undecided fans. Other teams with a similar scenario are Palmeiras, with 26% "don't know," and Grêmio, with 25%.

Botafogo is pointed to as the most successful SAF

One of the points investigated by the research was the perception of which club has adopted the SAF model most successfully so far. The Botafogo appears with a significant advantage, being mentioned by 33% of those interviewed. . Next come Bahia (9.8%), Cruzeiro (5.3%), and Fortaleza (4.8%).

Interestingly, despite having already become a SAF, Vasco was mentioned by only 1.1% of fans. Another 36.4% stated that they did not know which SAF has performed best so far — this figure shows that the debate about the model is still recent or little understood by a large part of the fan base.

Fans see advantages in management, but fear loss of identity

The research also revealed the main motivations for those who support or reject the SAF model. Among the most cited positive points are: improvements in governance (26%), money for hiring (25%), and long-term planning (18%). Other advantages include: paying off debts (15%), investments in infrastructure (10%), and strengthening the brand (5%).

On the other hand, among the fans who are against the adoption of the model, The main concern is the loss of club identity, pointed out by 31% of those interviewed. . They also mention an excessive focus on profits (23%), priority given to external interests (22%), risk of failure (12%), and loss of control by partners and fans (11%).

The answers were obtained through the Digital Random Recruitment (DRR) technique, a method that, according to the AtlasIntel , ensure representation by reaching active fans online. Being anonymous and remote, this method also avoids possible influences on responses that could occur in face-to-face interviews.
