Corinthians is experiencing its worst run as hosts in the Brazilian Under-20 Championship

The Corinthians Sub-20 is going through a worrying moment in the Brazilian Championship for the category when it comes to home games. The team is experiencing its worst sequence without victories at home in the history of the competition. The only time the little Corinthians won with three points was on April 14, defeat Atlético-MG 3-2 at Fazendinha .
Since then, the team led by Orlando Ribeiro has gone six consecutive games without winning at their home ground, including a match held in Santana de Parnaíba. During this period, there were four draws and two losses, including a heavy defeat, a crazy game that ended in a draw, and a lackluster performance in the most recent round against Vasco.
The team, in fact, is experiencing the worst home losing streak among the 20 teams in the Under-20 Brazilian Championship. Athletico-PR, Atlético-GO, and Internacional are the other teams with negative streaks at home, but they have only gone two consecutive games without winning at their venues.
The performance below expectations as the home team has been compromising the black-and-white campaign in the national tournament. The team currently occupies 14th place, with only 18 points accumulated in 15 rounds.

- 19/03 – Corinthians 1 x 1 Grêmio (Fazendinha)
- 26/03 – Corinthians 0 x 0 Cuiabá (Fazendinha)
- 14/04 – Corinthians 3 x 2 Atlético-MG (Fazendinha) – only win at home
- 30/04 – Corinthians 2 x 3 Fortaleza (Fazendinha)
- 14/05 – Corinthians 2 x 2 Atlético-GO (Fazendinha)
- 27/05 – Corinthians 4 x 4 Santos (Gabriel Marques da Silva, in Santana de Parnaíba)
- 17/06 – Corinthians 0 x 3 Red Bull Bragantino (Fazendinha)
- 25/06 – Corinthians 1 x 1 Vasco da Gama (Fazendinha)
The team scored goals in six of the eight matches, but failed in defense, especially in the losses to Fortaleza and Red Bull Bragantino, as well as the 4-4 draw with Santos. The performance is concerning, considering the need to score points at home to advance in the championship.
It should be mentioned that in this first phase of the tournament, the twenty teams play against each other in one-legged matches, with only the eight best teams from each group advancing to the next phase.
Performance a bit better in the Sub-20 Paulista
In the Paulista Sub-20 Championship, Corinthians has been performing much better, maintaining an unbeaten record as the home team, although without a 100% win rate. In four home games, they had three wins and one draw.
- 03/05 – Corinthians 3 x 1 União São João (Fazendinha)
- 10/05 – Corinthians 3 x 2 Araçatuba FC (Fazendinha)
- 30/05 – Corinthians 2 x 2 Ituano (Gabriel Marques da Silva)
- 21/06 – Corinthians 2 x 1 São Bento (Fazendinha)
Even with more consistent performance in the state championship, the fluctuation between the two competitions has been raising an alarm. To advance to the next phase in the Brazilian Championship, coach Orlando Ribeiro will have to adjust the team and seek consistency, especially at home, to keep the little Corinthians alive in the race for the title.
