Review Redmi 13X: Is It the Most Worthwhile in Its Class?

Table of Contents

BUSINESS POTENTIAL - Redmi is making a splash in the smartphone market again with the release of the Redmi 13x, a device promising attractive specifications at a competitive price point. For those of you looking for a new phone in the price range of around IDR 1 million, the Redmi 13x can certainly be considered as one of the options worth considering. However, before making a decision, it would be good to delve deeper into what strengths and weaknesses this phone has.

Launch and Availability

The Redmi 13X was officially announced and released on March 28, 2025. This means that as of June 2025, this phone is already available on the market and you can purchase it directly.

The availability status that can be purchased immediately after the announcement shows Redmi's readiness to bring this product into the hands of consumers.

RAM capacity

The Redmi 13x is available with two RAM capacity options, which are 8 GB. For daily usage needs in the year 2025, this 8 GB of RAM is more than sufficient.

You can run many applications at once (multitasking), switch between apps smoothly, and even play games without worrying about performance slowing down.

This figure meets the minimum recommended standard of 6 GB for an optimal smartphone experience.

Chipset and Performance

The engine of the Redmi 13X is powered by the Mediatek Helio G91 Ultra (12 nm) chipset. This chipset has an octa-core CPU configuration with a combination of 2x2.0 GHz Cortex-A75 and 6x1.8 GHz Cortex-A55, as well as a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU.

MediaTek Helio G91 Ultra is considered a fairly capable mid-range chipset. For casual to moderate gaming needs, this chipset can still be relied upon.

Popular games like Mobile Legends, Free Fire, or PUBG Mobile can likely be played with mid-to-lower graphics settings at a stable frame rate.

For multitasking and light use such as browsing, social media, or streaming videos, its performance is obviously very smooth.

So, if you're not a hardcore gamer who needs the highest graphics, this chipset is already good enough.

Internal Storage Capacity (ROM)

For internal storage, the Redmi 13X offers two options: 128 GB and 256 GB with eMMC 5.1 technology. Both of these options provide ample space for storing many applications, photos, videos, and documents.

However, it should be noted that this eMMC 5.1 technology is slightly below the UFS typically found in higher-priced phones. Nevertheless, for daily use, the difference in speed may not be very noticeable.

What's interesting is that there's a microSDXC slot that uses the same slot as the SIM card, so you need to choose between using dual SIM or expanding storage.

Resolution and Screen Type

The Redmi 13X uses an IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1080 x 2460 pixels, resulting in a pixel density of approximately 396 ppi. This means that the display is very sharp and clear, making image and text details clearly visible.

Although it doesn't offer the deeper contrast and more vivid colors of an AMOLED panel, the IPS LCD screen on the Redmi 13x is already very good for media consumption and daily use, and it is more power-efficient compared to AMOLED in some scenarios.

With a size of 6.79 inches, the screen feels spacious for watching movies or browsing. Its peak brightness reaches 550 nits (HBM), bright enough for outdoor use.

Refresh Rate Screen

The Redmi 13X screen supports a 90 Hz refresh rate. This is a significant advantage. With a higher refresh rate than the standard 60 Hz, movements on the screen will feel smoother and more responsive, especially when scrolling through social media or playing games that support high refresh rates. Your visual experience will feel more enjoyable and immersive.

Camera Resolution and Features

The Redmi 13X is equipped with a dual main camera. The primary sensor has a resolution of 108 MP with an aperture of f/1.8, a sensor size of 1/1.67", and a pixel size of 0.64µm, and it comes with PDAF. This 108 MP resolution allows you to take photos with very high detail, suitable for general photography or when you want to print photos in large sizes.

Both cameras are 2 MP macro with f/2.4. For selfies, there is a front camera of 13 MP with an aperture of f/2.5, which also comes with HDR.

Unfortunately, there is no information about the OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) feature in its main camera, which means it likely relies mostly on EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) for videos.

The quality of the recorded video is limited to 1080p@30fps for both the main and selfie cameras. For serious vlogging or professional video recording, this limitation may be felt.

Battery Capacity

One of the advantages of the Redmi 13x is its large battery capacity, which is 5030 mAh. This capacity is well above the average of 5000 mAh, so you can rely on this phone for a full day's use without needing to charge it frequently.

In addition, there is 33W wired fast charging support, which allows for quick power replenishment, so you won't have to wait too long to fully charge the battery.

AnTuTu Score and Comparison

Generally, chipsets with similar architecture and frequency (such as the previous Helio G88 or G90 series) usually achieve AnTuTu scores in the range of 250,000 to 300,000 points.

With scores in this range, the Redmi 13X can handle everyday applications smoothly and is suitable for casual gaming.

Latest Prices

Based on the price of Rp1,699,000, the Redmi 13X will compete with several other devices in the same segment. For example, there is the Samsung Galaxy A05s (featuring the Snapdragon 680) or the Realme C65 (featuring the Helio G85).

The AnTuTu score comparison between Mediatek Helio G91 Ultra and Snapdragon 680 shows that the G91 Ultra may be slightly better in graphics performance, while the Snapdragon 680 tends to be more power efficient.

On the other hand, the Helio G91 Ultra is clearly more powerful than the Helio G85. Therefore, with the price offered, Redmi 13x offers competitive performance, even arguably slightly above average for its price class.
