‘용감한 형사들4’에서 미궁에 빠진 사건을 해결한 형사들의 집념 있는 수사기를 공개했다.

On June 27th, in the broadcast of Tcast E Channel's "Brave Investigators 4" (Directed by Lee Ji-sun), Episode 40 featured Incheon Yeonsu Police Station's Criminal Investigation Team Leader Kangikim Ki-hoon, former Commissioner Yoon Oe-chul of the Scientific Investigation Team (KCSI), and Kim Jin-soo, who unfolded their own investigation logs of cases they solved personally.

During the reinvestigation of the case 12 years later, Detective Park Ki-hoon, who had joined the cold case team, looked again at the taxi photo and began to doubt the source of the vehicle manual. Since there were no signs of a thorough search inside, it was possible that the perpetrator had taken it beforehand. Through the vehicle manual that had been kept as evidence, three new notes were discovered. They then speculated on the car model, series, and year of manufacture, and by investigating approximately 100,000 vehicles, they were able to narrow down the list of suspects to 300 people. Further investigation into the vehicle lists from the previous investigation revealed one person whose fingerprints matched. However, he had sold his car to someone else a month prior. After continued investigations, they were able to identify one of the two suspects, Mr. Choi (a pseudonym). Mr. Choi had quickly sold his car and fled to another region four days after the crime. After finding all records of Mr. Choi, they secured the trash he had thrown away in the company cafeteria and obtained a match with his DNA.

After 16 years, Mr. Choi was caught and rejected it, saying he doesn't remember. The accomplice was a year older than Mr. Choi and was in the same prison batch. The accomplice admitted to robbery but shifted the blame for murder onto Mr. Choi. He claimed that the crime was committed in a taxi he happened to board, and when he tried to find out the victim's card password, the trapped victim escaped, leading Mr. Choi to chase after him, resulting in the victim's death. However, forensic examination results indicated that the crime required two people working together. Despite this, the accomplice still denied the murder charge, and Mr. Choi also never admitted to the crime. Ultimately, both were sentenced to life imprisonment.

The incident introduced by KCSI began with a report of a fire in an apartment on the top floor. However, while smoke filled the living room inside, no flames were visible, and there were separate spots of fire elsewhere, making the scene different from a typical fire site. Unfortunately, a charred female body was found inside burned bedding and clothing. The victim was a 40-something woman who lived alone and was the owner of the house. The auxiliary lock on the entrance door could only be unlocked from inside the house, suggesting that the perpetrator did not exit through the main door but rather moved via the balcony and roof, shocking everyone. While checking the list of nearby criminals, attention was drawn to a 20-something male public service worker residing across from the victim’s house. He had been given juvenile protection for a special robbery charge when he was underage, and he claimed that he couldn’t remember anything as he had returned home drunk after finishing his shift on the day of the incident.

The victim's phone was found as a lost item at the intercity bus terminal restroom. It was revealed that the perpetrator made approximately 20 calls after the crime, with most of them being to paid 'phone dating' numbers, which further fueled public anger. The perpetrator also called 114 to inquire about a laundromat number and, based on this information, went to the laundromat where bloodstains were discovered on the brown mink sleeve. Someone there recognized him as an acquaintance. The perpetrator turned out to be a 20-something male conscript. He admitted to the crime, claiming that robbery and sexual assault were his motives. After setting the fire, he said he went to the rooftop because the door wouldn't open, and in order to survive. Showing no remorse, he was sentenced to just 15 years in prison, which enraged everyone.
