Travel is not just about the destination but also about how you enjoy it, and this changes with trends. For ocean tourism, represented by beaches, seas, and islands, traditional themes used to be water activities, sunbathing, or enjoying seafood. However, nowadays, the way of enjoying the sea doesn't stop there. There are various experience programs, riding horses along the beach, and practicing yoga on the water. Recently, the Korea Tourism Organization has recommended five new trendspots for 'ocean tourism.'
●Healing felt on the sea surface
(Busan Gwang'anri SUP Yoga) This is a popular experience program among the younger generation these days, referred to as 'hip.' It combines stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) and yoga into a healing program. Until November 16, the program will be held at the SUP zone on Gwang'anri Beach, which is considered one of the top SUP destinations in Korea.
You can operate yoga programs on the beach and at sea, allowing participants to join according to their own skills. Experiencing yoga while maintaining balance on a paddleboard provides a unique healing experience. The time to learn and experience SUP is also included. SUP, a water sport where you paddle while standing on the board, is easy for anyone to learn.
The SUP yoga program operates only on weekends. Beach SUP yoga starts at 9 AM, while sea SUP yoga begins at 11 AM. There are also various programs such as a 3-hour program to fully enjoy SUP, and programs that add romance with sunrise and sunset to SUP.
●Experience Diving with a Current Female Diver
(The Jeju Hadoreo Village Experience Village Diving Experience) Haenyeo culture, which can also be found in Busan, Namhae, East Sea coast, Japan, Southeast Asia, Russia, and other places, is an ocean lifestyle culture. The place with the highest number of current haenyeo in Jeju is Hadoreumyeon Hadori. 'Hadoreo Village Experience Resting Village Haenyeo Diving Experience' is a five-sense experience program where you dive with current haenyeo.
Wearing the same equipment as the haenyeo (Korean female diver), you enter the sea together to collect seafood, and then taste the caught seafood. This takes place twice a day (at 10:30 AM and 2:00 PM) until October, lasting about 2 hours each time. The necessary equipment for diving, such as suits, goggles, fins, taewak, mesh nets, bit chang, and kakuri, are provided.
●Walking barefoot on the beach supercharging
(Taean Gijipo Beach seawater) 'Earthing' is a combination of the words 'Earth' and 'ing', referring to the action of receiving the energy of the earth through bare feet. The most well-known example is walking barefoot. It involves releasing static electricity from the body into the ground and receiving the negative ions from the earth into the body. Walking on the sand at the seaside is said to increase the effects of earthing, and this is referred to as 'Super Earthing.'
The Taean Gijipo Visitor Center has enhanced the convenience for visitors who want to enjoy soaking by providing slippers and shoe storage areas. The super soaking section is a total of 1.89km, divided into two courses with the visitor center as the starting point. Course 1 (1.09km) goes from the center to Sampong Beach, and Course 2 (0.8km) goes down to Changjeong Bridge toward Flower Beach. It's a light walking course that can be completed in about 2 hours round trip.
In addition to walking through the only coastal national park in the country, this section includes the 'Sunset Road', which is considered the pinnacle of the 170.3km Taean Coastline route. It is super easy to walk with Gijipo Beach as the starting and ending point.
●Racing horses on Namyangri Beach
(Gochang County Sanghamyeon Beach Horse Riding) In the west of Gochang County, Jeollabuk-do, there is a wide sandy beach in Sanghamyeon. This place is called 'Mungsajipri Beach.' Here, anyone can easily learn horse riding and experience running through the forest and along the beach. It is called 'Hwigem Gochang Beach Horse Riding Club.' The most basic horse riding experience, as well as off-road programs running along the pine forest and the beach, are its features.
There are diverse experience programs prepared to suit everyone from beginners to enthusiasts. You can feed the horses or get interested in horseback riding while circling the circular track. However, the highlight of this place is the beach ride. This is because you can gallop on the vast sandy beach for miles. Especially, if you visit at sunset, you will be greeted by the beautiful scenery of the West Sea turning golden.
●Island Art Sensibility Enjoyed Through Riding
(Incheon City Ongjin-gun Bukdo-myeon Shindo Riding) Shindo is a 10-minute boat ride from Incheon Sammok Pier. It is an island located between Yongyudo and Ganghwa Island. The three islands of Shindo, Sido, and Modo are connected by a causeway, making it possible to travel around the island by foot, bicycle, or motorcycle. You can rent bicycles and motorcycles near the Shindo Pier. Due to the characteristics of the island roads, which have many uphill sections, you need to make a careful decision when renting a bicycle. For first-time motorcycle riders, the company representative will teach them how to operate it.
